The History of Riverside Country Club

Nestled alongside the beautiful Pecos River, and located near the country’s only spot where a river crosses itself, Riverside Country Club was established in July of 1946 as a place for Southeast New Mexico Ranchers and Oil Men to socialize, relax, and enjoy a round of golf. Riverside Country Club is built on riverfront land generously donated by well-known entrepreneurs Albert and Alice Carter.

Riverside Country Club has been the host of many amateur and professional tournaments, including the New Mexico Open of 1973, and two LPGA tournaments in 1965 and 1967. The southwest-style course has hosted such names Tommy Bolt, Julius Boros, and Byron Nelson.

In 1981, Ray Hardy and a crew of workers completed the construction of the last 9 holes for Riverside Country Club.

Riverside is a challenging golf course measuring 6,167 yards from the Championship tees, with a USGA rating of 68.5.
